Eyewitness Horror Story: The Perpetrators of Sri Mulyani's Home Looted Bought Knives and Used Drones

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Unknown mobs looted the house of Finance Minister (Minister) Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Jalan Mandar, Bintaro Sector 3A, South Tangerang City, Sunday (31/8/2025) in the early morning hours of WIB. As it turned out, those in looting the items were carried out in a coordinated manner

“The first wave was around one o'clock, the second wave happened around three o'clock (early morning),” security staff at the house, Joko Sutrisno, told media crews at the site on Sunday around 5:00pm.

An eyewitness named Renzi, said that Bintaro Housing Sector 3A was guarded only by security personnel and an army soldier who was sent as a relief force to guard the area. However, they could not do anything because the masses were indeed too numerous.

So all they could do was pacify the masses into doing nothing further, especially burning down houses. Renzi said that in fact the neighbors had been on alert, having learned their neighborhood was suddenly noisy in the middle of the night.

Some of the people, who were definitely not residents of the neighborhood, sang while going to loot in the early hours of the morning blind. “They are numerous and some are carrying sharp weapons,” Renzi said.

Renzi's testimony was justified by a video taken by Joko Sutrisno, the security officer. One witness instead said among the looters there were those carrying drones.

News of the looting of Sri Mulyani's house in Bintaro initially emerged from a social media post belonging to Bintaro Housing residents around 01.00 pm. From several impressions and videos that Joko also took, the mob took all the property inside the house, including televisions, cabinets, jewelry, pots, and more.

Now the situation around Jalan Mandar has returned to normal and dozens of soldiers are guarded. Surveillance at the site, dozens of army soldiers were deployed to guard the area.

Meanwhile, three security officers at the door of Jalan Mandar Housing Bintaro confirmed if indeed the looted house belonged to Minister Sri Mulyani. “But Bu Sri (Mulyani) is not at home yet,” said Renzi, who is next to Joko Sutrisno.

Joko claimed to be just him and a family of relatives in the house. The relative was evacuated to a neighbor's house next door before the mob ransacked the house.
